  • Willy? Yes, he will: Bombers pivot, like his team,...
It started off with fireworks but generally, the man at the controls of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers offence is not so much about the oohs and aahs. Starting quarterback Drew Willy, who threw for four touchdown passes in the 2014 season-opener against Toronto, has since been more about the little
  • Bombers without borders
Maybe Mike O'Shea has read and heard some of it. Maybe he hasn't. But it doesn't matter whether one newspaper thinks his team is heading to the Grey Cup or one radio station thinks they're a mirage. Not to him. "My focus has been first to get the guys to experience winning and secondly to get
  • Let the last two years go, fans; Bombers have
When trying to make sense of your feelings for this upstart football team, it is best to realize that you are essentially emerging from a two-year, dysfunctional relationship. The problem that has arisen, of late, is our emotional baggage from 2012 and 2013 -- and for some since 1990 -- is
  • Bombers to welcome back Greaves

  • Hallelujah for Hajrullahu
VANCOUVER -- The mispronunciations of his name have been almost as plentiful as its vowels and consonants. But if you're going to mispronounce Lirim Hajrullahu, well, given the remarkable events that transpired at BC Place Friday night, Winnipeg Blue Bombers defensive tackle Bryant Turner is
  • Win makes homecoming sweet

  • Bombers 23, Lions 6
VANCOUVER — The Bombers have even more believers this morning after last night’s convincing win over the B.C. Lions on their own turf. They weren’t supposed to beat the high-flying Leos, but that’s exactly what they did thanks to Gary Etcheverry’s defensive game plan and Lirim Hajrullahu’s leg. Etcheverry, the veteran defensive co-ordinator, took Lions […]
  • Eskimos 26, Bombers 3
A few thoughts after Edmonton hammered Winnipeg in the battle of the unbeatens: • I re-watched every Winnipeg offensive play when I got home, and the offensive line didn’t play as bad as it originally appeared. Here are a few notes: - On a lot of the plays quarterback Drew Willy clearly didn’t have anywhere […]

Two days are in the books at Bomber camp, so it’s time to start cutting players. Just kidding. Sort of. Four practices are not enough for the players to prove to the coaches that they can play in the league, but you can bet the coaches can already envision what the roster will look like […]

  • Bombers mini-camp, Day 1

  • Jets 2, Coyotes 1 (SO)
PHOENIX — It’s amazing how one shootout goal can change the feeling of an entire road trip. The only reason the Jets were giddy in the dressing room after tonight’s 2-1 shootout win over Phoenix was because Andrew Ladd’s shootout attempt bounced off the post, off Thomas Greiss and into the net. If that wasn’t […]
